Strategic Agreement for the Establishment and Management of the Center for the Development of Scientific, Technological Cooperation and Knowledge-Based Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Iraq

General Description:

This agreement is established in line with the general policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the development of the knowledge-based economy, scientific and technological diplomacy, expansion of exports of knowledge-based products and services, enhancement of international scientific and technological cooperation, development of regional markets, and the creation of sustainable cooperation infrastructures between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq, based on the scientific, research, technological, economic, and managerial capacities of both parties.

Objectives:

• Developing scientific, research, and technological cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq.
• Establishing a permanent platform for introducing and presenting the scientific, technological, and knowledge-based economic capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Iraq.
• Expanding the export of products, equipment, educational services, emerging technologies, and knowledge-based services.
• Creating suitable conditions for the presence of Iranian knowledge-based companies, creative technology enterprises, innovation centers, and research and development units in the Iraqi market.
• Establishing a cooperation network among universities, scientific centers, industries, investors, and executive institutions of both countries.
• Developing joint investments, technology transfer, establishment of joint companies, implementation of collaborative projects, and expansion of regional markets.
• Enhancing the scientific and technological position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in West Asia and strengthening scientific and technological diplomacy.
• Creating sustainable revenues, economic added value, and new cooperation opportunities for both parties.

Agreement Duration:

Ten years

• Establishing a joint strategic committee.
• Determining areas of cooperation.
• Emphasizing the principles of cooperation.
• Specifying financial resources and methods for benefit sharing.
